Week 10 Post 3
Reflecting on my overall journey, I can say that I am proud of myself for growing into a passionate researcher as I wanted to be when I first started this internship. I can say that every experience that I have had here in the lab so far has shaped me into the professional that I am today. I have never been so confident in my abilities as a responsible employee as well as in my technical and soft skills. I am extremely grateful for choosing this opportunity for my summer 2022 internship. Before I started this program, learning new things and tools seemed scary to me, especially doing it all by myself and without a mentor or a teacher who could guide me, so I was doubtful about this experience. However, now I can say that it all turned out to be false and that I need to trust myself more. For my final days here in the lab, I can say that I dived even deeper and at a faster pace into the research and achieved many goals that I set for myself. I finally resolved the problem with interpolation and successfully applied a classification algorithm. I had to research more, and I found out that there could be a solution applied that is based on a completely new for me library, which is the Sklearn library. Apparently, my data standardization went wrong because of the normalization methods that I used. So I fixed it with the functions like fit_transform() and transform(). After that, my scatterplot looked amazing, and the distance between the interpolated points seemed flawless. And kNN algorithm worked as it should have, so everything went fine. I feel satisfied with my newly acquired and improved abilities in research. It makes me happy to realize how much I have grown as a researcher and how the level of my curiosity has increased. That is one of the reasons I went into a research internship, so one of the initial goals that I had at the beginning of my internship was fulfilled. I am planning to continue to develop the skill of research even after I finish the internship so that I can be an excellent fit for my future plans in graduate school. I can see myself five years from now continuing to have my blogs but as a professional researcher in the field of AI. In my blogs, I would share my knowledge and experiment with the creative ideas that I would try to implement as solutions for real-world problems. I cannot wait for this future to come!
