Week 11 Post 1

This is the last official day of my internship, according to my internship proposal. I decided to come to the lab just to get into this environment full of creative people one last time. Honestly, I am going to miss this lab, the project that I worked on, the people in the lab whose creativity inspired me to strive for more, and the atmosphere of this place in general. This is one of the best schools in engineering in the country, and I am very grateful for having an opportunity to work with such amazing and experienced professionals in the field of Robotics and AI. My journey here was not flawless, and of course, I had some obstacles and challenges on my way throughout this internship. However, those obstacles and challenges did not stop me from accomplishing my goals and proving to myself that I could become who I am meant to be. I feel so much more experienced and knowledgeable after this internship because I had never thought that I would be able to work on such novel for me things individually with very little guidance and help throughout the project. That helped me learn so much more because I had to explore everything by myself, and after facing some errors and getting overwhelmed and frustrated, I had to get back on track by myself, which made me stronger and more persistent in my confidence in becoming a true researcher. On my last day, I was able to help a graduate student with his project, which made me switch completely to a new territory, but this time, I was prepared as I knew that I would be able to figure it out after some research and exploration. And it turned out to be true. The graduate student needed some help with a quality assessment to distinguish between bad and good quality images. I learned about an unsupervised regression algorithm and how to use it. I applied the algorithm, and it worked. So, a few images were chosen for the good-quality images folder. I am happy to be able to help my fellow coworkers, even if it is not something that I have knowledge of. I can see how much I have grown up throughout this summer as a person as well. This is a truly life-changing experience that will help me continue to build myself so that in the future, I can accomplish my bigger goals. I feel more prepared and ready for graduate school, and no fears can stop me anymore. I believe that I am going to be a professional researcher or a professor in the field of AI.
